The Barking & Dagenham Witten Club was formed in 1994 by the late Len Collins who was Honorary President until his death in April 2012.
The Club came about to ensure that the Friendship that was formed over 70 years ago between the two Towns was strengthened following the signing of the Town Twinning Agreement in 1979 by the then Mayor of Barking & Dagenham, Len Collins and the Mayor of Witten at the time, Klaus Lohman.
Thanks to the continued hard work of both Clubs within Barking & Dagenham and also in Witten, this continues today.
The Club is totally self funding by way of small Annual Subscriptions currently £16.00 per year* and we raise money by way of Social Evenings, Raffles, Quiz Nights etc and carry out exchange visits to Witten and other locations.
The Club meets regularly every 3 months at Dagenham & Redbridge Football Club, Victoria Road, Dagenham. The Club currently has 30 Members.
The Club Motto is “Forward Together as one People”.
The Colin Pond Foundation was set up in 2001 as a Trust Fund to provide grants for young people engaged on a professional training course. The main stipulation is that the apprenticeship, training course or study programme lead to a recognised qualification.
