51 times Labour

As in the 2018 local elections, Labour again won all 51 seats for Barking and Dagenham Council on 5 May. Since the amalgamation of Dagenham and Barking in 1960, Labour has always had the majority. However, the turnout was only 24.49%, another 5% lower than last time.

Boxing against depression

Volunteers have started to plant a “Forest of Gratitude” in Barking and Dagenham. Volunteers have begun planting a “Forest of Gratitude” in Barking and Dagenham. It is meant to commemorate the great efforts of the National Health Service staff during the pandemic. But it will be a very different forest from the one we know.

Due to the Corona pandemic, we were unable to hold Annual General Meetings in 2020 and 2021. Therefore, we invite you today to a “3-way Annual General Meeting” for the years 2019, 2020 and 2021.

Our English twin town has changed enormously in recent years. The number of inhabitants has gone up in leaps and bounds, and the municipality has had to expand the development of public facilities to cope with the increased number of inhabitants – currently 213,000.

Poor working-class neighborhood and gathering place for artists of all styles – in the case of our twin town Barking and Dagenham this is no contradiction. As part of the development of Greater London, it is planned to make offers here for artists from all over East London. This is an area with a population of 8 million.
