Many friends, many activities

The Barking Dagenham Witten Club has resumed its tradition of civic trips after a break due to corona. 45 members and friends went to the English twin town from Friday to Tuesday, October 6 to 10.

Independence could be chosen as a heading for this enterprise. The club had offered common activities for all days, which were used above all by the travelers, who had never been in London before or not for a long time. Alongside this, however, it was evident that club members had made many friends across the Channel and that the visit was used to organize reunions. Other groups of participants made explorations on their own and appreciated sights that precisely fit their tastes.

Intensive use was made of the possibility of boarding one of the Thames boats in Barking’s new development “Riverside” to reach the traditional London attractions. Also noteworthy was the final evening on Monday, where there were quite a few re-encounters and where, in addition to the incumbent mayor, quite a few predecessors had come, all of whom had taken Witten into their hearts when they traveled to us for the Onion Fair during their respective one-year terms of office.
